Solo Acoustic Tricone Resonator Slide Guitar Sound Sculptures

As it unfolded, no overdubs or edits

There’s nothing quite like playing a tricone resonator lap style, with those three cones cascading your playing right back over you in waves of chimey midrange sparkle, nasal and howling. It’s such a pretty machine, all chrome mirrored finish, that I usually leave it laying about so I can see it's Escher-esque reflections. One sweep of the hand and you’re soaked in shimmer - inevitably I have found myself inventing ways to spend more and more time with this guitar. To see how I might push my luck with it in a variety of ‘prepared guitar’ ways, reaching for it’s inner koto, shadow sarod, while still embracing it’s folk blues hootenanny of an attitude. With that in mind, and a commitment to keeping it raw and unedited, I started filming the improvs. That lens made it grow in unexpected ways, visually and sonically - sculpturally even.
